The effect of the trolley system of the early 1900’s is still evident in the development patterns of the City

[ MLS Zone 60 ] The neighborhoods of Richmond’s southside begin along Hull Street in Manchester and move west down Semmes/Forest Hill Avenue to the Chesterfield border in Bon Air. The homes along this corridor are detached and were typically built anywhere from the early 1900’s through the 1970’s with bungalows and ‘four-squares’ as the most dominant housing styles closer to Downtown. Stratford Hills was developed originally as part of Chesterfield County and has a different feel than the denser neighborhoods east of Powhite with larger lots and a lack of a city block/grid system layout of its streets.
